CALLING ALL FILM BUFFS
18-28 MARCH
The Bradford International Film Festival is set to be better than ever this year. “It’s been condensed from 16 days to 10,” says director Phil Oates, “but it’s going to be bigger than before, with eight to nine new venues being confirmed as we speak.” Based at the city’s state-of-the-art National Media Museum, the festival will see the return of the ever-popular Widescreen Weekend, with screenings including a 70mm version of Brooke Shields’ breakout The Blue Lagoon, the first Die Hard, and sci-fisequel 2010. Special themes and guest speakers are TBC, but last year’s luvvies included Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire screenwriter Simon Beaufoy and Python’s Terry Jones. www.national. mediamuseum.org uk
