MODEL AEROPLANES

TEXT LUCILLE HOWE AND HANNAH BRIGGS | PHOTOS TON FRENCH | STYLING SARAH COUCHE | ARTWOR KRICKARD WESTIN

You’re on holiday. You’re fit, tanned, relaxed and on form. So where do you go to lose the tourists and hang out with the hot crowd? We asked four models to tell us where the party’s going on at their latest European shoots

BEAUTY SPOT: PARIS

EYE CANDY: JULIA SCHWEIZER | 26

“I lived in the 8th arrondissement for six months, on Rue Washington – a very chic street off the ChampsÉlysées Lots of important designers base themselves there and the fashion scene is very bohemian. There are so many parties.

I did a fashion shoot in a park nearby, dressed very sophisticated, walking my ‘dog’, which was actually a man in a giant costume. We attracted so much attention the police came along.

The beautiful Marais district is great for vintage clothing especially Mamz’Elle Swing (mamzelleswing.fr). If you’re in the 3rd arrondissement, check out Le Petit Atelier design store (lepetitatelierdeparis.com) for cute crockery to eat your pain au chocolat off. Sometimes I wander out from Saint-Germain-des-Prés to the very cool Place de la République, stopping in cafés along the way. The photography gallery at the Jardin des Tuileries, Place de la Concorde, is also a great place to go for inspiration if you’d rather be behind the camera.”

BEAUTY SPOT: ROME

EYE CANDY: ADAM FORSTER | 26

“I shot a beer commercial in Rome recently after an initial ‘go-see’ (what models call castings). The director told us to act all animated for this nightclub scene but the studio was so hot, we were really thirsty. What’s worse, the ‘beer’ was warm water, which wasn’t easy to make look appealing. After, I spent the day reading in Café Ombre Rosse by the Trastevere (12 Piazza Sant’ Egidio, Tel: +39 06 588 4155). That night, I caught up with the guys over a Melody cocktail at Zest bar’s roof terrace (rome.radissonsas. com) before heading on to the Supperclub (supperclub. com) for some antipasto and a cheeky dance. It’s hard work, honest!”

BEAUTY SPOT: IBIZA

EYE CANDY: ELINE DEBLOER | 19

“I did a shoot for a national newspaper at the Ibiza Rocks hotel (ibizarocks. com), where the brief was a rock n roll blowout which turned into a four-day holiday. If you stay at the hotel, and you’re lucky enough to have a room facing the courtyard, you can see the bands play from your balcony. There’s nothing as fun as getting ready to go out to some Sam Sparro – live!

like to take the boat over to Majorca to shop (aferry. com). It’s only 2 1/2 hours away. Back on the island, I meet friends at KM5 lounge (km5-lounge.com), which is a bit of a secret find and reopens end of April for the season. Five km out of Ibiza town, it’s a huge garden with Bedouin tents, sexy lighting, great cocktails and an art gallery that exhibits international artists all summer. It’s big enough to find different parties going on in every corner and there are hammocks to crash in if you just can’t dance any longer and you need your beauty sleep.”

BEAUTY SPOT: LONDON

EYE CANDY: DAN HALL | 29

“There’s a lot of work in London and a lot of good-looking people. So, when I landed a job on a Martini shoot with Jude Law I was beyond excited. He was a ‘one take’ guy and looked exactly the same as he does on screen. We all had our suits specially tailored (in Saville Row, no doubt) but we didn’t get to keep them. If you want to meet models in town, try the Benugo Bar at the BfiSouthbank (benugo.com) or studios (gilgameshbar.com), a really over-the-top new bar-restaurant in Camden’s Stables Market. If I have friends down from the North, I take them to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich (nmm.ac.uk). The views of London from there are better-looking me!”
