Paul Smith

LEEDS International fashion designer Paul Smith has returned to his tailoring roots with a new store in Leeds’ historic Victoria Quarter. The opening night in December was attended by the city’s most famous sons – rock band Kaiser Chiefs – who Smith designs for.

Smith’s first tailoring was done by Leeds’ factory Atkinson Rhodes and, after successful global domination with stores in cities from Paris to Japan, he has finally returned to the north.

The three-storey shop features a women’s room and a men’s classic suits room as well as perfume, toys and memorabilia.

Paradise Factory

MANCHESTER One of Manchester’s iconic musical landmarks has been given a new lease of life.

The Paradise Factory was once home to the legendary Factory Records, the label which launched the careers of Joy Division and Happy Mondays. After it folded in the 1990s, the building spent some time as a gay venue but has been empty for the last few years.

It’s now set to become Manchester’s hottest club with the very best in house, techno, hip-hop and drum and bass.

The two-room, three-floor weekend venue launched in January with the likes of Laurent Garnier, Danny Mac and Steve Angello. It’s only open for six months of each year but we’re mad fer it already.
