FURNITURE CLASSICS AREN’T JUST FOR ADULTS, AS THESE PIECES FOR LITTLE PEOPLE PROVE.

TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL
Monastic simplicity for the 21st century. This clever piece of design is the work of hip young Parisian designer Ora-Ito who created it for Habitat’s Very Important Products range. Formed from moulded plywood with a roll of paper incorporated below the desk top, it makes for a very compact all-in-one unit. It may seem pricey, but Ora-Ito’s future is bright and one day this could well become a collector’s item. [£199]

ONE FOR JUNIOR
Verner Panton’s famous curvy cantilevered stackable chair dates back to 1960. Widely recognised as a design classic, the kids version is 25% smaller than the original and comes in seven different colours. What’s more, made from tough polypropylene it’s a chair for all seasons and can be used indoors and out. [£107]

ROCKIN’ BABY
Thorsten van Elten’s English oak rocking chair features a coloured rubber inlay that comes in five shades from pretty pink to lime green. Designer Alexander Taylor’s credentials speak for themselves; New York’s MoMA acquired his ‘Fold’ lamp for their permanent collection. So buy this for your kid to rock out and one day they could well cash in on your little investment. [£250]

ACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD
One for budding Picassos is the Offi Woody Chalkboard, which is also a table. It comes complete with a central storage bowl for chalk and there’s plenty of room for collaborative efforts. [£249]
PUPPY LOVE
Eero Aarnio’s whimsically abstract Puppy seat was designed for Magis’ Me Too kids collection. Made from rotationally moulded plastic, it’s great for outdoors too. We love the bright orange, but stylishly inclined kids might prefer the cooler black or white version. It comes in four sizes, so it can grow to suit all from tiny tots to big kids. [Small £26, medium £46, large £60 and XL £152]
